by the tech official. All tech cars must be signed by the driver.
Our tech personnel have the final say in any technical matters. He
or she is specially trained in this area.
Staging Lanes
The Staging
Lane Offical has control over the staging lanes. They will draw
UNO cards for lane assignments for 1st and 2nd; round’s unless other
wise notified. From 3rd round on cars will be laddered unless
otherwise notified. If one of the lanes empties then the cars at
the back end of the other lane will be required to mover over into the
empty lane until they even out. Except of a car with a BYE that
car will always have lane choice. In the final round if both cars
want the same lane they must either agree on lanes or it will be
determined by the Staging Lanes Offical with a coin toss. It is
the contestant’s responsibility to listen to the PA system or the radio
on 91.5 FM for
the classes being called.
Any unauthorized persons (12 years old or younger) in the staging lanes
or any restricted areas will be asked to leave those areas, and return
to the spectator area. If they have to be asked a second time, it
will be cause for ejection from the facility and a 25 point deduction
from competitors season points total.
Dial-Ins
Dial-ins and car numbers must be on the left side (driver’s
side) of the car. Poorly written dial-in’s will not be accepted.
Tower personnel must be able to read dial-ins at all times. One
warning will be given if the dial-ins or car numbers are to small or not
legible. The next infraction will be grounds for disqualification.
If you do not have a permanent number from NHRA, you will receive a
track appointed number the first time you enter a race. Please use
this number for the rest of the season unless you acquire one from NHRA.
This will help tower staff as they enter racers into the computer.
KRPI contestant may change dial-ins between rounds. Contestants
may not dial times that are out of their class time breaks. All
dial-ins must be on your car and cannot be changed once you are motioned
out of the staging lane into the water box. The competitors
dial in will be visible on the scoreboards.
If you feel a dial-in is entered
incorrectly DO NOT PRE-STAGE YOUR CAR until you are sure the dial-in is
entered correctly. Once you have pre-staged your vehicle you are
accepting that dial in “as is”! After this point on it cannot be
changed!
Staging Procedure
Once you are motioned out of the staging lanes by the Staging
Lanes Official you have two (2) minutes to move into the water box for
your burn out. Once
you are at the head of the staging lanes and paired the race is set.
If for some reason you or your opponent cannot move to the water box in
the allotted time (2 Minutes) when motioned out by the Staging Lanes
Official, that driver will be disqualified. The other driver will
then receive a mechanical BYE.
Once you are motioned to stage by the starter you have
a reasonable amount of time to move into the pre-stage beam. This
time limit will be determined by the started as to not disrupt the
normal flow of the race.
If you do not stage in the amount of time determined by the starter you
will be disqualified and your opponent will receive a BYE run.
Choosing of the BYE
BYES will be chosen randomly out of the 1st 10 cars in the
lanes by a number drawn in the tower. If there are more than 10
cars in a class a BYE will be picked, that car will race last and if
there is an opponent the BYE has lane choice. It is possible for a
car to have more than one BYE during completion. If a car receives
a BYE in 1st or 2nd round it is possible to receive another BYE after
the cars are laddered. If the cars are not laddered then you
cannot not receive another BYE unless all remaining cars in competition
have also received a BYE.
Auto Start System
Our starter is in control of the starting line PERIOD!! His or her
decisions are FINAL !
KRPI has the latest state of the art Comp-U-Link fiber optic
timing system. This system uses an auto start system, once both
cars pre-stage the starter will then arm the auto start. From that
point on the system will automatically start the tree after a specified
delay once both cars have staged. If the car in the other lane has
lit their stage bulb and you are pre-staged you have a per-determined
time to stage your car. This time is different for various
classes please check with the tower to determine the delay for your
class. If you fail to stage your car in the allotted time they
system will start the tree and you will receive a RED LIGHT (Foul) and
will be disqualified.
Cross Talk
KRPI uses CROSS TALK (Xtalk) in S/pro and all other classes using a
delay box. If Xtalk is not wanted you must place an “N” behind
your dial in. NOTE: This is only effective if you are the faster
car. When Xtalk is disabled you will see a dash (“-“) in front of
your ET displayed on the scoreboard. The “N” must be clearly
visible behind the dial in. If it is not legible it will not be
entered in the system and Xtalk will not be disabled.
Time Trials
Every effort will be made to provide a fair amount of times trials for
each racer before eliminations. There is no guarantee on the
number of sessions offered.
Re-Runs
From time to time problems may occur that require a re-run in
eliminations. It is the sole discretion of KRPI to allow re-runs.
It is the policy of KRPI to re-run pairs in the event of a computer
malfunction or other uncontrollable circumstances when ever possible.
Each situation is different and will be dealt with in the most fair and
expeditious manner possible. The cars involved in a Re-Run cannot
change their dial-ins or lanes.
Disqualifications
Should a driver receive a red-light foul start and the opposing driver
cross the center line or contact the guard wall, before the finish line.
The opposing driver will be disqualified as crossing the centerline or
contacting the guard wall is considered to be worse events than red
lighting. The driver who red-lighted would then be
reinstated in to the next round. Anytime it has been determined
that excessive braking which has resulted in the loss of control that
results in crossing the center line or contact the guard wall or any of
the on track equipment will also be deemed grounds for disqualification.
Intentional cross of the track boundaries to leave the track or avoid
depositing debris on the track is not ground for disqualification.
Buy Backs
1st round losers may buy back into competition at a price determined by
the track manager or board of directors. Buy backs will go into
2nd round there will no be a separate round for them. Buy backs
must be purchased prior to being called for 2nd round.
Any participant that makes a pass (accepts the tree) without having paid
to buy back will be disqualified from the event and have 25 points
deducted from their season point totals. Two such incidents
of the above action will result in the participant losing racing
privileges at future KRPI events.
Points
Points are awarded for any driver who signs up for KRPI's points
program. We award points for all of the classes listed below.
To join the points for your class you are required to come to the tower
