Just thought i would post on here the thoughts of many who attend KRP on July 18th for the supposed 7:30 pm to 11:30 pm Street Grudge Racing (Heads UP!!!!!). I spoke to many ppl on ls1tech, svtperformance, corvetteforum, ls1gto, etc who where very upset with the events of Saturday night.

Many spectators came to the 1320 to watch Heads up, Street legal car, Racing!! And instead had to watch the NAPA Quick Race, Bracket Cars, Racing. I think KRP has made a terrible mistake at the treatment of the Street Cars/spectators over the last few cruise nights and I think many would agree.

All the Street Cars ask for is One NIGHT a YEAR to run against each other, and what did all of us get but a 2 hr+ wait to make one pass. And to top it all off all Street Cars must start to the Side, out of the grove, so we dont ruin the Prep Job for the Quick Race guys (Who run everyother Saturday and Sunday).

Most of the Cars who did wait the 2 hrs to make one pass were so upset at the time spent in the staging lanes and watching the 16 or so Bracket Racing cars run all night they said to hell with it, gave up and left!!!!

I understand KRP can experience delays with Breakdowns, Crashes, weather, etc. and that they tried to make it right by keeping the track open late for the street cars to continue running. BUT, they got WAY to many irons in the fire for one day. And when theres 4 lanes of street cars almost back to the entrance waiting to make a pass, with the largest crowd to attend KRP. You would think someone would have realized what ppl were interested in.

PINKS doesnt do Bracket Racing, Wonder WhY????

i wouldnt expect near the turnout at KRP this year for next year after this display of putting the HEADS UP guys to the back!!!

Although I realize it is not related.

That is why I suggested way back when
that Grudge/ Street racing be held
on Friday nights rather than on
Saturdays.

Having a track full of regular racers
(Who get to race every other Sat. & Sun.)
Will chase away the average street car racer
Who is just there for a little fun.

the friday night sounds like a great idea!!! like from 6pm - 12am would be great. There also needs to be a little more advertisment on the Street Grudge Racing. I had many ppl that didnt even know Kearney Had a Drag Strip!!! maybe some advertisement with NTV and Channel 11 next year would help.

If Kearney Raceway Park could keep the cost to $20 for
Friday night grudge/ Street racing, then I'm sure that
cars from miles around would come to race the 1/4 mile
on a friday night to have some fun....

I know that a lot of people miss Scribner ( NEMotorplex)
and would travel to race the 1/4 mile on a friday night....

Beats the hell out of $500 in lawyer fees to try to keep from
loosing your licence & increased insurance rates.....

The 1/8 @ MAM's Rolling Thunder is ok,
But it can't compete with 1/4 mile racing.....

Especially if it is from 6:00 to midnight on a Friday night !!!!!
for $20 bucks....

Totally Agree ^^^^!!!!

Someone just needs to do some advertising!! NTV, 10/11 out of Lincoln, and maybe a paper or two.

maybe even some cheap trophies for best 60', Highest MPH, and Most Consistent three passes.
But still all heads up!!!

KRP has made a huge mistake for years not having Friday night street races for $20. When you look at how many cars will show up to an actual street race, that $20 would add up quicker than the standard sunday expensive racing 10 fold. Until they realize this, they are missing out on a huge chunk of change AND free advertising for the bracket racing on the point events.

Yeah, initially it will be small with few cars, but it would expand exponentially and turn into a huge event, probably eventually becoming the biggest source of income for the track. Its a business, I realize that, which is why I bring up the point of money.

Every track that has Friday night street racing has tons of cars show up to race, and friends to spectate. With so much bench racing between people, its a perfect thing to have to show whos who on the streets. Then, after the racing is done, the next week when the kiddies are at school talking about who kicked whos ass at the drags last weekend, more people will come check it out. Until that happens, enjoy the empty grandstands.
